Directed by Alexander Zeldin, The Other Place is a contemporary reading of Antigone that carves a tragic family drama out of everyday life. On the anniversary of their father’s death, two estranged sisters confront memories, renovation works and an uncle determined to move on. Led by composer-conductor Martin Palmeri, this performance of his Misatango gathers a large amateur choir, soloist Céline Rimet, pianist Valentine Mercier, bandoneonist Jérémy Vannereau and the William Garcin string orchestra. Told as a solo performance, this piece follows a woman as she remembers the films that shaped her life and blurs the line between cinema and memory. Through references to science-fiction sagas and cinematic archetypes — the woman-soldier, the survivor, the reluctant mother — the show probes identity, fear of change and the ways stories migrate from screen to skin. Sparse staging and intimate narration create a haunting, introspective atmosphere.
