Nocturne culturelle autour du livre

Nocturne culturelle autour du livre brings together the House of Books exhibition and a newly installed permanent collection to examine the book as object, medium and cultural archive. The programme juxtaposes printed volumes, artist books and archival fragments with display-based installations, revealing the material histories and circulation of texts.
Through curatorial mediation by Sébastien Brugière, the presentation reflects on how books shape memory, authorship and public knowledge, and on the rituals of reading and display.

Working across sculpture, drawing, painting and installation, he foregrounds materiality and craftsmanship, transforming humble materials into structures that mediate between nature and the built environment. An extensive survey assembled from a long-standing research collection devoted to glass, this exhibition takes a contemporary look at a millennia-old material. Over two hundred glass and mixed-media works, including sculptural objects, design pieces and installations, testify to a transdisciplinary experimental spirit. Featuring artists such as Ettore Sottsass, Pierre Charpin, Betty Woodman, Bob Wilson, Giuseppe Penone, Jana Sterbak and James Lee Byars, the show examines materiality, technique and the porous boundaries between craft, design and contemporary art.

Unfamiliar, Luminous, Remote marks Amit Berman’s first solo exhibition at the gallery, following an artist residency in Switzerland earlier this year. Bringing together a new body of paintings, the exhibition explores intimacy, memory and vulnerability through expressive gestures, visible layers of paint and atmospheric compositions. Moving between quiet domestic interiors, fragments of landscape and solitary figures, Berman’s works reflect on the fragile space between familiarity and estrangement, connection and withdrawal.

Created against a backdrop of war and emotional precarity, these intimate yet unsettled paintings reveal a persistent search for connection and belonging within an unstable reality.

Works include painting, sculpture, photography and installation that play with materiality, light and absence. The presentation favours subtle textures, layered compositions and spatial interventions to encourage contemplative viewing. Emphasis is placed on process and material experimentation, inviting reflection on how delicate gestures and ephemeral forms shape emotional and historical resonance.

Puissance 5 brings together five women artists from different generations in a dialogue between matter and spirit. Their intersecting trajectories produce works where gravity, metal, graphite and cosmic imagery become recurring motifs. The exhibition presents pieces in metal, pencil and mixed media that interweave tactile presence and poetic restraint, exploring materiality, perception and the enduring force of feminine creation across time and space.

17 September – 7 November

Lilian Bourgeat creates hyperrealistic sculptures that magnify everyday objects into monumental forms. Meticulous attention to surface, material and colour transforms benches, rain boots and soda cans into seductive yet unsettling sculptures. By altering scale while preserving recognizable details, his pieces oscillate between functionality and absurdity, displacing the viewer and inviting fresh perceptions of ordinary gestures and urban routines. The work interrogates how familiar objects shape memory, use and the boundaries between the banal and the monumental.
