Originally based in Lausanne, Fabienne Levy established her gallery in the Quartier des Bains in Geneva in 2023. The gallery presents contemporary art exhibitions featuring international artists, often showcasing in-situ projects that provoke contemplation on societal, systemic, and temporal themes. Additionally, the gallery instigated the project Space Invasion, inviting visual art students from Swiss art schools to exhibit their works in the gallery space.
Unfamiliar, Luminous, Remote marks Amit Berman’s first solo exhibition at the gallery, following an artist residency in Switzerland earlier this year. Bringing together a new body of paintings, the exhibition explores intimacy, memory and vulnerability through expressive gestures, visible layers of paint and atmospheric compositions. Moving between quiet domestic interiors, fragments of landscape and solitary figures, Berman’s works reflect on the fragile space between familiarity and estrangement, connection and withdrawal.
Created against a backdrop of war and emotional precarity, these intimate yet unsettled paintings reveal a persistent search for connection and belonging within an unstable reality.
Opening: Thursday 17 September, 18:00
Talk: Sunday 20 September, 14:30-15:30 with curator Danniel Tostes and Amit Berman.
