The plot follows Eddie Birdlace, whose cruel ‘dogfight’ gamble is upended when he meets Rose, an idealistic and sincere young woman. Over a single night, the production confronts themes of masculinity, violence and empathy, blending gritty social realism with moments of tenderness. Sparse staging and intimate musical numbers highlight a painful coming-of-age and the possibility of moral change.

Since 2012, singer Rosemary Standley and cellist Dom La Nena have collaborated in Birds on a Wire, reimagining songs from rock, Baroque and Brazilian repertoires.
