Victoria Hall is a prominent concert hall housed in a majestic neoclassical building. This historic venue is celebrated for its exceptional acoustics, making it a favored destination for music enthusiasts. While occasionally featuring other musical genres, Victoria Hall remains predominantly dedicated to the world of classical music.
Led by conductor Léonie Cachelin, the University Choir and HEM Orchestra present a program centred on sacred classics: Marianna Martines’s Dixit Dominus, Haydn’s Te Deum and Mozart’s Coronation Mass. Soloists Faustine Egiziano (soprano), Stéphanie Guérin (mezzo), Maxence Billiemaz (tenor) and Romain Favre (bass) shape luminous vocal lines, supported by rich orchestral colour. The performance blends academic precision and communal warmth, alternating grandeur and intimate moments that invite reflection and collective resonance.
Directed by Jacques Gay, this vocal celebration gathers soloists Fabrice Coccitto and Thibaut Trouche, pianist Raphaëlle Farman and the Comédie Lyrique choir to traverse a repertoire spanning musical theatre, French variété and jazz. Selections range from Aznavour and Voulzy to Queen, ABBA and Sinatra, reimagined with warm ensemble singing and intimate piano textures. The staging favors close harmonies, rhythmic verve and nostalgic timbres, inviting listeners into a convivial yet nuanced sound world.
Conductor Zofia Kiniorska leads the AMAA Symphony Orchestra through a programme balancing Italian lyricism and Romantic drama. Pianist Zijian Wei, Geneva Competition 2022 laureate, features in Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No.2, delivering poised virtuosity, while Andreas Bottaro brings lyrical intensity on violin in selected works. Excerpts from Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake and Puccini’s symphonic prelude weave orchestral color with balletic textures, complemented by dancers from CPMDT — Emilie Meeus and Luca Scaduto — who add a visual, kinetic layer to the musical narrative.
Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony performed by the Concertus Orchestra and the Orphée Vocal Ensemble.
As part of the “Les Grands Interprètes” series, renowned pianist Martha Argerich and acclaimed violinist Renaud Capuçon will perform together. Their program features an exquisite selection, including Robert Schumann’s Violin Sonata No. 2 in D minor, Ludwig van Beethoven’s Violin Sonata No. 10 in G major, and César Franck’s Violin Sonata in A major.
The Sunday Concerts at Victoria Hall introduce “Am Ang Klung Klang,” an immersive project by the Ensemble Batida centered on Indonesian Gamelan. Attendees have the freedom to choose their seating and the length of their stay, while the Ensemble Batida performs for four hours. Delving into the hybridization of traditional, electronic, and experimental sounds, the musicians create a liberating journey where each individual can become absorbed in the enveloping soundscape.
