Presented in collaboration with the EJMA Live Foundation’s On Stage program, this double concert pairs pianist-composer Nikolas Katrantzis’s NK36 project with the Geneva-based VS Quartet. Katrantzis’s music is built on organic grooves and introspective motifs, with Nikolas (piano) supported by Sara El Hachimi (alto sax), Nathan Triquet (drums), Emiel Verneert (trumpet) and James Iwa (electric bass). VS Quartet, led by guitarist Owen Duveau, blends composed material and open improvisation, favouring interplay, groove and exploratory textures that invite attentive listening.

Set in the 1930s American South, the staging gathers a company around Laura, here embodied by Aurélia Thierrée, with Cyprien Colombo, David Gobet and Clotilde Mollet completing the ensemble. Liermier’s direction emphasises fragile interiors and poetic movement, offering a liberating, weightless atmosphere that balances tenderness and uneasy nostalgia.

Emma Lamadji channels the spirit of Bob Marley in a luminous musical tribute that revisits the Jamaican legend’s most enduring songs — No Woman No Cry, Redemption Song and One Love. Her warm, expressive voice and subtle arrangements bring fresh emotional depth to familiar melodies, blending reverence and personal interpretation. The programme highlights themes of resilience, hope and unity, delivered with intimate staging and a focus on vocal expression.

9 – 16 October

Music and songs by Stephen Sondheim with a libretto by George Furth and a French translation by Stéphane Laporte. This intimate, razor-sharp musical follows Robert (Bobby), a charming New Yorker confronting bachelorhood, friendship and the compromises of coupledom. The production blends incisive lyrics, lively choreography and a close ensemble cast to reveal joyful neuroses, hidden desires and fragile bonds. The staging alternates warmth and irony, inviting reflection on love, loneliness and the elusive art of staying together.

Led by musicologist Mathilde Reichler and journalist Charles Sigel, this lecture-concert examines the singular sound world of Sofia Gubaidulina through commentary and live performance by internationally renowned Swiss musicians. The program alternates analytical introductions and concentrated chamber renditions, highlighting spiritual intensity, timbral experimentation and lyrical restraint. Performances emphasise quiet intensity and resonant textures, creating an intimate, contemplative atmosphere that balances scholarly insight with the immediacy of sound.

Prima Facie, by Suzie Miller, stages a tense courtroom drama centred on Tessa, a brilliant defence lawyer whose life is upended after she becomes the victim of an assault. Directed by Elidan Arzoni and performed by Anna Budde, the production weaves urgent questions about justice, credibility and power. Danielle Milovic’s lighting and the French translation by Dominique Hollier and Séverine Magois shape a stark, intimate staging. Produced by Les Amis – Le Chariot for Scène Vagabonde Festival.
