Geumhyung Jeong — Find Select Copy and Paste

Choreographer and performer Geumhyung Jeong presents a double programme that probes the uneasy alliance between the human body and surrounding objects. Combining contemporary dance, performance, puppetry and visual art with a long-running interest in robotic sculptures, she revisits works in a conference-performance, Toy Under Development, before performing Find Select Copy and Paste. Stripping movement of its props — even appearing naked as a deliberate “costume” — Jeong reconfigures gestures to blur animate and inanimate, creating an intimate, uncanny ritual.

Scène Vagabonde’s seventh edition brings a compact program of contemporary theatre and music, presenting three contrasting stage works — “Par le bout du nez”, “Quadrille” and “Prima facie” — alongside a concert by Orchestre Tout Puissant Marcel Duchamp as part of La Bâtie-Festival de Genève. Across intimate stagings the festival favors inventive direction, close ensemble interplay and a balance of wit and intensity, offering encounters that privilege physical presence, tonal variety and rigorous dramaturgy.

Cellist Estelle Revaz and harpist Laudine Dard form a striking duo that dives into the Hispanic repertoire with Amor y pasión. By making their instruments converse, they explore works by Piazzolla, Gardel, Cassadó, Granados and Ginastera, blending the cello’s deep voice with the harp’s radiant colours. Tangos, heightened lyricism and popular tunes fuel a programme of passion and virtuosity. Revaz, internationally recognised and active in Swiss cultural and political life, brings intensity and stage presence.

For his final production as a theatre director, Jean Liermier revisits Tennessee Williams’s autobiographical classic about memory, longing and family. Set in the 1930s American South, the staging gathers a company around Laura, here embodied by Aurélia Thierrée, with Cyprien Colombo, David Gobet and Clotilde Mollet completing the ensemble. Liermier’s direction emphasises fragile interiors and poetic movement, offering a liberating, weightless atmosphere that balances tenderness and uneasy nostalgia.
