For the bicentenary of Ludwig van Beethoven’s death, a two-day immersion presents the complete string quartets as a living cycle. Conceived with cellist François Kieffer of the Modigliani Quartet, the programme traces Beethoven’s striking evolution from the Op. 18 quartets to his late visionary works. Ensembles including Modigliani, Arete, Elmire, Novo, Métamorphoses and Leonkoro alternate, offering contrasting interpretations. Each concert opens with a literary introduction resonant with Beethoven’s universe.

Le Petit Prince

Directed by Jean Bellorini in collaboration with Yang Hua Theatre, this staging reimagines Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s Le Petit Prince with the title character portrayed by a Chinese actor. The production blends French and Mandarin dialogue with live music by singers from China’s independent scene. Actors François Deblock and Marc Plas perform alongside a cast that shifts between a childlike prince, an ancient reciter of poems and fantastical cosmic inhabitants. The show mixes clear popular-science explanation, theatrical images and comic timing to reveal that nothing has “always been like this”.

Dramaturg Antoine Jaccoud provided textual guidance following a writing workshop, and members of the Célébrys network bring lived professional experience to the stage. Works by Leo Brouwer — including the complete 20 Études simples and Paisajes cubanos — weave minimalism, serial techniques and Cuban folklore into a dense rhythmic tapestry. The performance balances precise instrumental textures and kinetic, communal choreography, offering vivid sonic colours and pulsing movement.
