The Forum of History

The Forum of History is a series of academic lectures bringing together researchers from the University of Geneva and other Swiss and international institutions. The programme examines topics ranging from modern and diplomatic history to the history of gender, sexuality and violence. Sessions focus on methodological issues, archival practices and interpretive debates, offering comparative and interdisciplinary perspectives that illuminate changing historical narratives and social dynamics.

Filmmakers Agnès Patron and Pierre‑Luc Granjon bring award-winning experience in contemporary animation: Patron (L’Heure de l’Ours; César 2021; Grand Prix Animatou 2019) and Granjon (Cristal d’Annecy 2025; Prix Florimont).

This paired conversation examines their artistic approaches, from Patron’s narrative-driven short films to Granjon’s volumetric and paper-cut animation. They discuss creative process, material techniques, and narrative strategies, revealing how craft choices shape meaning and audience engagement, and offering perspectives on sustaining a creative practice in contemporary animation.
