This interactive memory challenge invites participants to test their memory while exploring practical ways to preserve biodiversity based on Geneva’s municipal strategy. Players match “before-and-after” images that illustrate individual and institutional actions, and each correct pair reveals concise information explaining the measure. The activity examines themes such as habitat restoration, species-friendly practices, urban greening and policy responses, helping participants understand the impact and rationale behind everyday and organisational conservation choices.

Sunday 6 September, 14:00

Serval, a Geneva graffiti artist, and Kalonji, an illustrator from Geneva, lead monthly artist encounters that combine dialogue and shared creative practice.

Participants discuss works in situ and create responses alongside the exhibition, exploring processes of observation, interpretation and collaborative making. The session examines how immediate exchange with artworks can inspire new approaches to image-making and public practice. Attendees are invited to experiment with materials and techniques in response to exhibited works, fostering critical reflection on artistic gestures.

An audiovisual parcours immerses visitors in Jean-Jacques Rousseau’s life and work, arguing that his writings continue to provoke contemporary debate. Through seven thematic niches, the presentation examines Rousseau’s paradoxes — from individual freedom to social critique — and invites reflection on how his ideas anticipate modern challenges. The session explores tensions in his thought and encourages critical questioning of present assumptions, revealing why Rousseau remains relevant for current political and cultural discussions.

Organized in collaboration with the University of Geneva’s Institute of Art History, the congress highlights the vitality and diversity of contemporary art historical research through a dynamic program of roundtables, thematic sessions, academic presentations, and interdisciplinary exchanges. Céline Zufferey, author of the novel Maxence, brings her literary perspective on love and remembrance, exploring how narrative work confronts fragile memory and the desire to suspend time.

She discusses Maxence’s project of recording the everyday—lists, fragments and intimate details—to ward off disappearance. The session examines themes of archival desire, the ethics of witnessing a loved one, and how fragmentary narrative shapes an emotional portrait, offering reflections on why literature investigates memory and attachment.
