Led by saxophonist and conductor Branford Marsalis, this programme pairs jazz heritage and orchestral refinement. Jeff Beal’s Concerto for Saxophone — commissioned for the ensemble — foregrounds improvisatory phrasing against luminous chamber textures. Beal’s arrangement of Duke Ellington’s “Duke’s Harlem” (Swiss premiere) revisits 1930s themes with big-band motifs reworked for a tight ensemble, while Javier Diaz’s adaptation of Gershwin’s An American in Paris blends orchestral sweep with jazz inflections. The evening unfolds without pause, emphasizing intimate interplay and rhythmic momentum.

The Wheel of Fortune

Two unexpected deities arrive by bicycle, guided by a capricious GPS, carrying a very serious object: the Wheel of Fortune. They need the audience—especially children—to spin the wheel and together invent a story about a child to whom nothing seems to go right. Misfortunes pile up, luck sticks to the sneakers and solutions must be imagined. A participatory musical tale where chance and imagination shape a different story each time.

Operation Transat – Le Grand Village

Operation Transat’s Le Grand Village transforms public space into a nomadic, poetic microcosm. The itinerant theatre company sets up tents, caravans and open-air spaces where artists, residents and passers-by meet through a varied programme of short plays, object theatre, puppetry, circus, concerts, readings and workshops. Intimate and communal, the installation invites close encounters, spontaneous discoveries and participatory moments, offering playful, moving and theatrical experiences for audiences of all ages.

Directed by Louis Bonard, Les Voüéces follows two reclusive women, Rodogonde and Frénéjus, who live atop a high tower. Louis Bonard and Michèle Gurtner wrote and perform a piece in an enchanted pseudo‑medieval tongue where voice, embroidery and play weave a poetic fable. The performance probes silence, the passage of time, guilt and the unsettling presence of other voices — ghostly, culpable or absurd — with a blend of darkness and dark humour.

Sapin Magique — Psychedelic Improvised Music

Led by the duo Sapin Magique—Luc Muller and Marcin de Morsier—this improvised set blends psychedelic, shamanic and regressive currents to realign perception and recall primary musical instincts. Ethnic, electric and electronic instruments—sometimes imperfect—are joined by toys and found hardware, conjuring hypnotic, childlike refrains and abrupt New Age accents. The evening also presents kokhlias (Olga Kokcharova) and loulan (Antoine Läng), framing the concert as a loose, communal ritual of sonic exploration and raw beauty.
