ECAL presents a selection of glass pieces created through a workshop at Musée Ariana, where fifteen students from the Master in Design for Luxury and Craftsmanship collaborated with Swiss manufacturer Niesenglass. Working with a mobile furnace, they explored several glassmaking techniques and developed original, experimental objects. The exhibition highlights process as much as result, revealing how material expertise, risk, and improvisation can shape contemporary design in dialogue with craftsmanship and innovation.

Investigating Border Violence, Promoting ‘Mobility Justice’

Border Forensics presents an audiovisual exhibition of investigative films documenting violence at borders.
Excerpts from three films, The Death of Blessing Matthew (2022), The Death of Roger Nzoy Wilhelm (2025) and Asymmetric Visions (2023), combine documentary footage with geospatial analysis, data visualization and 3D modeling. The works reconstruct contested events, interrogate aerial surveillance and Mediterranean migration control, and foreground communities affected by border violence. The project examines how images and data can document abuses, challenge official narratives and advance claims for mobility justice.

History and discovery of an exceptional greenhouse

Jardin botanique

Baroness Julie Caroline de Rothschild’s 19th‑century greenhouse, built in the 1880s from Canadian Pitch Pine, presents a living archive of botanical rarities. Succulents, palms, citrus and orchids stand alongside the iron-and-glass architecture, revealing intersections between horticulture, material craft and colonial-era plant collecting. The greenhouse’s preserved structure and curated plant collections evoke histories of taste, conservation and botanical display. Gardeners who tend the living holdings continue a dialogue between historical legacy and contemporary stewardship.

Nature never deceives us: Jean-Jacques Rousseau herbarium

Jean-Jacques Rousseau’s herbarium, compiled in the 1770s for the printer-bookseller Charles-Joseph Panckoucke, is presented through preserved pressed specimens, its original catalogue and related botanical publications. The historical collection combines scientific observation and aesthetic arrangement, revealing Enlightenment approaches to collecting, classification and the popularisation of plant study. Detailed notes and annotations illuminate Rousseau’s techniques and the materiality of specimens, inviting reflection on how personal curiosity and scholarly networks shaped early modern natural history.

The Darkroom, Dye Lab & Kiln

Taste Contemporary

An exhibition presenting work by Garry Fabian Miller, Ptolemy Mann and Marit Tingleff, curated by Sarah Griffin. Across photography, weaving and ceramics, the show explores the darkroom, the dye lab and the kiln as sites of material transformation. The artists draw on deep embodied knowledge and long practice, using process, environment and material behaviour to shape outcomes. The works probe attention to texture, colour and time, revealing subtle relations between technique and the natural conditions that inform each practice.
