Scène Vagabonde’s seventh edition brings a compact program of contemporary theatre and music, presenting three contrasting stage works — “Par le bout du nez”, “Quadrille” and “Prima facie” — alongside a concert by Orchestre Tout Puissant Marcel Duchamp as part of La Bâtie-Festival de Genève. Written, directed and performed by Adrien Buensod and Maxence Marmy, Le vol des mouettes is an absurd tragicomedy about isolation and the ritualisation of bureaucracy. Two government agents stranded on a remote island decode confidential messages as routine and procedure acquire surreal weight. Actor director Martine Corthésy shapes the performers’ delicate balance between precision and bewilderment; Lam Do sculpts the world with spare lighting and technical design. The piece unfolds with dark humour and lingering unease, attentive to timing and silence.

3 – 6 September

Directed by Aurélia Lüscher, Au Grand Passage stages a tender and questioning dialogue with her paternal grandmother and the spectral traces that linger among the living. Combining documentary inquiry and poetic dramaturgy, Lüscher conjures the voices of those who engage with the beyond amid a wax and mist décor that blurs visible and invisible. Drawing on readings like Magali Molinié and Vinciane Despret, the piece explores what cannot be resolved, using theatre’s spectral dimension to imagine passage between forms.
