30 October – 19 December

Telluric Silhouettes

Telluric Silhouettes brings together works by Reinata Sadimba (Mozambique) and Tiemar Tegene (Ethiopia). The exhibition juxtaposes Sadimba’s hand-built ceramics and Tegene’s monoprints, united by a carnal engagement with material, a palette of blacks and greys, and an emphasis on texture.
Both artists sculpt or incise human silhouettes—engraving, carving and modeling figures—evoking phases of existence and emotions such as love, grief and discord. Mineral pigments (lime, graphite) and dense patterning lend a telluric, communal resonance to works that question embodiment and collective memory.
