Nos Kimonos – La beauté du Kimono vivant

Yasuka Ishikawa, founder of Midnight Blossom, invites you to discover “Nos Kimonos” (Our Kimonos), an exhibition that presents the kimono in a new light: not as a static museum piece, but as a living garment worn in everyday life in Geneva.

Opening: Thursday, October 15 at 17:00, with a kitsuke (traditional Japanese dressing) demonstration at 18:30, and refreshments provided by small Geneva-based businesses dedicated to showcasing authentic Japan.

The exhibition is part of the “L’Automne de la culture japonaise 2026” program, supported by the Consulate of Japan in Geneva.

What Connects Us brings together Susanna Bauer, Michele Landel and Hannah Schmider in a collective exhibition that examines encounters between nature, memory and craft. Delicate crochet, embroidered photographs on reclaimed bed linens and figurative wooden sculptures form a quiet vocabulary that probes human–animal relationships and domestic ecologies. The works emphasise material histories and gesture, inviting careful looking and conversations about care, fragility and the traces left by interspecies bonds.

Calvin, Geneva, and a movement that reshaped Europe. Just steps from St Peter’s Cathedral, the MIR traces the Reformation through paintings, manuscripts, rare books, objects and multimedia — turning a complex chapter of religious and political history into an accessible visit.

Abdul Rahman Katanani presents a contemplative exhibition curated by Barbara Polla that gathers artistic, philosophical and literary propositions to rethink the world and imagine solutions. The centrepiece is the drawings series «The Story Portals», created for this presentation. The work balances poetic gesture and rigorous conceptual inquiry.

Artist Lou Masduraud presents Skin to Skin, a recent body of work exploring the relationship between architecture, the body and the spaces we inhabit. Large copper wall panels, richly ornamented and pierced with lace-like patterns, oscillate between paintings, doors and thresholds, challenging the neutrality of the white cube. At the centre of the exhibition, Self Street transforms urban street furniture into a reflective object, blurring the boundaries between public and private space.

Through oxidation, touch and layered surfaces, Masduraud creates works that are physically responsive to the viewer, evoking the intimate relationship between clothing, architecture and the body. The exhibition considers how ornament, desire and the gaze can reshape our perception of space and our own embodied identities.

Through textiles, photography, performance, and writing, Vanessa Riera explores the visible and invisible burdens that permeate women’s experiences: norms, legacies, and inherited traumas, but also care, healing, and resistance. The title evokes those micromovements that allow the body to endure, adapt, and transform—gestures sometimes imperceptible, yet profoundly meaningful.

17 September – 15 December

Dia al-Azzawi presents a new ensemble of recent paintings and sculptures that trace a dialogue between the artist’s interior worlds and his engagement with landscape. In the “Inner Worlds” strand he probes memory, introspection, human relationships and domestic spaces that inform his imagery. In “Under Open Skies” the gaze widens to gardens, light and natural vistas, with recurring references to the Jardin Majorelle in Marrakech. The works combine expressive painting techniques with sculptural presence and a poetic modernist language.
