ICAM – l’Olivier is Geneva’s Institute for Arab and Mediterranean Cultures, a cultural centre promoting Arab and Mediterranean arts and dialogue. It hosts exhibitions, concerts, literary events, a specialised bookstore, workshops and language courses, fostering intercultural exchange and public education while supporting community programming and artistic research.
Abdul Rahman Katanani presents a contemplative exhibition curated by Barbara Polla that gathers artistic, philosophical and literary propositions to rethink the world and imagine solutions. The centrepiece is the drawings series «The Story Portals», created for this presentation. Through narratively charged drawings, Katanani probes memory, migration and collective imaginaries, inviting reflection on how visual storytelling can articulate ethical and social alternatives. The work balances poetic gesture and rigorous conceptual inquiry.

Dr George Garibaldi, psychiatrist and researcher, brings clinical and scholarly expertise on the history of medicine. He examines the evolution of medical knowledge from ancient Egypt to modern practice, tracing innovations in diagnosis, therapeutic techniques and medical philosophy. The lecture explores how ancient Egyptian contributions shaped anatomical knowledge, surgical methods and medical ethics, and considers their enduring influence on later traditions and scientific inquiry.
