إنتظار En Attendant

Abdul Rahman Katanani presents a contemplative exhibition curated by Barbara Polla that gathers artistic, philosophical and literary propositions to rethink the world and imagine solutions. The centrepiece is the drawings series «The Story Portals», created for this presentation. Through narratively charged drawings, Katanani probes memory, migration and collective imaginaries, inviting reflection on how visual storytelling can articulate ethical and social alternatives. The work balances poetic gesture and rigorous conceptual inquiry.

Iris Macculi, an amateur photographer from the Saint-Mathieu neighbourhood, presents a series of portraits and everyday scenes captured during years spent in Africa. Her images trace intimate moments, expressive gazes and gestures, and candid exchanges that counter prevailing media narratives. The exhibition offers a contemplative exploration of the continent’s visual diversity and human complexity, encouraging viewers to appreciate personal stories and the nuanced everyday realities that shape African life.

17 September – 7 November

An exhibition presenting work by Garry Fabian Miller, Ptolemy Mann and Marit Tingleff, curated by Sarah Griffin. Across photography, weaving and ceramics, the show explores the darkroom, the dye lab and the kiln as sites of material transformation. The artists draw on deep embodied knowledge and long practice, using process, environment and material behaviour to shape outcomes. The works probe attention to texture, colour and time, revealing subtle relations between technique and the natural conditions that inform each practice.

Opening: Thursday 17 September, 18:00

3 September – 10 October

Ianne Kenfack Kitio continues her inquiry into representations of Black femininity and the construction of identity. In this photographic work, produced as a cyanotype, she treats the image as a space of transformation rather than a fixed depiction. The piece links material and concept: its blue evokes Ndop indigo textiles of the Grassfields and the artist’s Bamiléké heritage, while the cyanotype’s gradual emergence mirrors identity as an ongoing process of thresholds and metamorphosis.

16 March – 14 November

Dany Gignoux (photographer) and poet Georges Haldas present a compelling dialogue between documentary photography and lyrical prose. The exhibition brings together photographs and written fragments that register everyday life in Geneva’s cafés, combining on-the-spot reportage with memory-infused “prose inspirée.” Through intimate black-and-white images and spare, evocative texts the works transfigure mundane scenes into poetic testimony, revealing social undercurrents and human tenderness. Archival materials frame this historic encounter between two generations of cultural chroniclers.

Permanent exhibition

What does humanitarian action actually look like? Personal stories, objects and immersive installations bring visitors face-to-face with questions of dignity, displacement, family and resilience. The permanent exhibition is currently evolving towards a completely redesigned experience in 2028 — and remains open throughout the process.

18 September – 31 October

German artist Olaf Holzapfel presents a body of work that quietly investigates landscape, architecture and vernacular traditions. Working across sculpture, drawing, painting and installation, he foregrounds materiality and craftsmanship, transforming humble materials into structures that mediate between nature and the built environment. The works trace textures of memory and labour, proposing subtle dialogues between form and site. The exhibition emphasises process and making, inviting sustained attention to material relationships and artisanal techniques.
