Gaza: Erasing 5,000 Years of History

This discussion examines the archaeological heritage of Gaza and the fate of a remarkable collection conserved in Switzerland. It revisits the 2007 inauguration of the exhibition Gaza, at the Crossroads of Civilizations at the Museum of Art and History in Geneva, and considers what these objects reveal about a region shaped by successive civilizations.

Fadel Alutol, who documented the condition of Gaza’s sites in February 2025, shares first-hand testimony on the situation in the Gaza Strip. The session also brings together Béatrice Blandin, curator responsible for archaeology at the MAH, and Marc-André Haldimann, former chief curator, in a discussion moderated by Benoît Challand.
