Indigenous Peoples Facing Contemporary Challenges

On its 40th anniversary, the association Traditions pour demain commissioned five photographers from Bolivia, Ecuador and Guatemala to present documentary photographs portraying daily life, ancestral knowledge and resilience among Indigenous communities of Latin America. The series explores entangled crises—climatic, social and cultural—that shape their present, using intimate portraiture and landscape studies to reveal survival strategies, intergenerational transmission and forms of resistance. The work invites reflection on living traditions as sites of knowledge and hope.

Narrating Death – Exhibition

Jardin botanique

An itinerant exhibition conceived by researchers from the Haute école de travail social et de la santé Lausanne (HETSL | HES-SO) in collaboration with artist Virginie Rebetez. The project brings together six audio narratives presented as podcasts and twelve photographs to explore questions of end of life, memory, funeral rites, transmission, mourning and remembrance. Through intimate soundscapes and photographic tableaux, the work prompts reflection on our relationship to the living, biodiversity, funerary landscapes and the disappearance of non-human life.

Anne-Marie Akplogan presents a body of paintings and mixed-media works produced during a recent residency in Paris. Focusing on legs and feet, the works probe the language of the body, the breath of the soul and the memory embedded in the foot. Through layered paint, varied textures and sculptural handling of surface, Akplogan situates intimate anatomy within sensitive, spiritual and anthropological registers, inviting reflection on movement, ritual and embodied memory.

Their Crops, Our Roots – Portraits of Women in Geneva’s Countryside

Photographer Bertrand Carlier presents a series of large-format portraits that foreground women working across Geneva’s agricultural landscape. The photographs depict market gardeners, winegrowers, fruit growers, livestock farmers and cellar managers in their working environments, using natural light and documentary framing.
The project explores gender, labour and continuity, revealing how women’s labour shapes rural economies and biocultural traditions. Set against the UN’s International Year of the Woman Farmer 2026, the work invites renewed attention to the diversity of skills and trajectories within contemporary Geneva agriculture.

Franck Bohbot presents a selection of photographs of heritage libraries that open a space for meditation and reverie around the idea of the library.
Alongside these images, contemporary installations and mirrored arrangements that juxtapose photographs of personal libraries create reflective encounters, while a kaleidoscope of texts centers the theme. The exhibition examines how architecture, collection and personal memory shape our relation to knowledge, evoking nostalgia, curiosity and questions about the library as a social and imagined space.

Critical Girls

Xippas

Artists Chloé Delarue, Miriam Laura Leonardi and Gaia Vincensini, curated by Manuella Denogent, present a group exhibition that interrogates systems of representation, value and desire in contemporary society. Through sculpture, installation, photography, video, object-making and light-based interventions, the works reconfigure familiar forms and visual codes to reveal hidden hierarchies and emotional economies. The exhibition emphasises material experimentation and spatial strategies, inviting reflective engagement with how images and objects shape social meanings.

BLCG Grants for Young Contemporary Creation

Ten selected artists and designers present new projects supported by the BLCG grants for young contemporary creation. The programme awards two CHF 10,000 bursaries for artists under 35 and provides each exhibiting artist a CHF 3,000 production allowance.
Works include installation, sculpture, photography and design-based practices that interrogate cultural and professional conditions of artistic labour, creative development and public recognition.
Projects by Marine Aebischer, Yann Stéphane Bisso, Behzad Dehno, Victoria Jospin, Camille Kaiser, Nicolas Ponce, Valentin Rilliet, Sabrina Smaili, Mina Squalli-Houssaïni and Xavier Weber.
