The Darkroom, Dye Lab & Kiln

An exhibition presenting work by Garry Fabian Miller, Ptolemy Mann and Marit Tingleff, curated by Sarah Griffin. Across photography, weaving and ceramics, the show explores the darkroom, the dye lab and the kiln as sites of material transformation. The artists draw on deep embodied knowledge and long practice, using process, environment and material behaviour to shape outcomes. The works probe attention to texture, colour and time, revealing subtle relations between technique and the natural conditions that inform each practice.

28 May – 31 July

Painter Elise van den Brand examines figurative painting and the dynamics of the gaze in a new body of work. Through cropped portraits and fragmentary compositions she interrogates the tension between how subjects intend to be seen and how viewers project narratives onto images. The exhibition draws on Sartre’s notion of le regard, explores social armour as protective presentation, and probes the instability that emerges when contextual markers are removed, exposing ambiguous subjectivities.

Painter Éric Alibert presents a sensitive, meditative body of work inspired by the banks of the Arve. Using Chinese ink and watercolor on Japanese papers, his small-format writings of the living observe the discreet presences of urban wildlife. Through careful observation Alibert explores passages between interior and exterior, appearance and disappearance, proposing a contemplative, ecological gaze that brings wildness into the city and invites reflection on fragility and coexistence.

4 June – 25 July

Christine Gaillard and Chantal Carrel present a dialogue between painting and sculpture that probes transparency as an experience of light, space and perception. Gaillard’s paintings employ layered surfaces, subtle rhythms and luminous chromatic variations to invite inward contemplation. Carrel’s sculptures—crafted in resin, stone and wood—play with geometry, refraction and shadow, activating volume and architectural relationships. Curated by Myriam Bongard-Stadler, the exhibition explores how materiality and light disclose hidden depths and questions of gaze.
