International Ceramic Competition — 20th Edition

Selected works from the 20th Concours international de céramique present contemporary approaches to clay across functional and sculptural practices. The exhibition gathers emerging and established makers whose pieces range from wheel-thrown vessels and hand-built forms to experimental sculptural objects and site-aware installations. Emphasis is placed on technique, surface treatment and material research, revealing diverse glazing, firing and modeling strategies. Curatorial selection highlights formal innovation and dialogue between tradition and experimentation within contemporary ceramic practice.

2 September – 3 January

EXEM aux urnes – 40 Years of Political Posters brings together 40 political posters by Geneva-based illustrator EXEM between 1988 and 2023. Spanning nearly four decades of Swiss direct democracy, the exhibition explores the distinctive language of political posters at the intersection of graphic art, satire, and political commentary.

Through EXEM’s sharp and engaging imagery, the exhibition traces the political issues and communication styles that have shaped Swiss public life, and offers insight into the artist’s creative process and the stories behind his iconic posters.

16 March – 17 October

Dany Gignoux (photographer) and poet Georges Haldas present a compelling dialogue between documentary photography and lyrical prose. The exhibition brings together photographs and written fragments that register everyday life in Geneva’s cafés, combining on-the-spot reportage with memory-infused “prose inspirée.” Through intimate black-and-white images and spare, evocative texts the works transfigure mundane scenes into poetic testimony, revealing social undercurrents and human tenderness. Archival materials frame this historic encounter between two generations of cultural chroniclers.

3 September – 1 October

On its 40th anniversary, the association Traditions pour demain commissioned five photographers from Bolivia, Ecuador and Guatemala to present documentary photographs portraying daily life, ancestral knowledge and resilience among Indigenous communities of Latin America. The series explores entangled crises—climatic, social and cultural—that shape their present, using intimate portraiture and landscape studies to reveal survival strategies, intergenerational transmission and forms of resistance. The work invites reflection on living traditions as sites of knowledge and hope.

Saturday 5 September, 14:00

Hydromondes guides a participatory workshop inspired by the exhibition Lake Geneva: A Living Being, inviting participants to make collage self‑portraits that merge personal identity with the lake. Drawing on the exhibition’s Seven Faces illustrations, the session foregrounds image-making, memory and embodiment, suggesting how water shapes bodily and cultural lives.

Through collage and mixed media, participants explore themes of belonging, resource dependency and landscape, producing intimate portraits that question and reveal individual relationships to Lake Geneva.

4 – 10 October

On the occasion of her first institutional solo exhibition in Geneva, Marisa Cornejo presents El Taller de la Fragilidad, bringing together new sculptures, drawings, and installations. Born in Chile and based in Switzerland, the artist draws on her experience of exile to explore the relationships between memory, displacement, absence, and repair. Several of the works have been created especially for Halle Nord, examining the forms of resilience that emerge from uprootedness. Recipient of the Fondation Francine Delacrétaz Prize (2023) and a Swiss Art Award (2024), Marisa Cornejo’s practice spans sculpture, drawing, installation, performance, and archival research.

Photographer Léonie Rose Marion presents a long-term photographic inquiry into the relationship between people and the land. This exhibition gathers documentary images and in‑situ portraits that document those who work the soil around Meyrin, focusing on agricultural practices, gestures and material traces. Through stark, intimate portraits and contextual landscapes, Marion maps the social and territorial fabric that binds inhabitants to the living world. The series examines intergenerational knowledge, everyday labour and the networks of care that sustain local ecologies.
