Ferdinand Hodler: Profession of Faith examines for the first time the spiritual dimension in the work of Ferdinand Hodler (1853–1918). Through some twenty-five paintings, the exhibition traces his youthful biblical readings, his rare biblical scenes, and his relation to the Reformation and the city of Geneva. It also considers how notions of creation and the order of nature informed his symbolist language and his meditative landscapes, revealing the interplay between religious themes and formal concerns in his painting.

Espace Ami Lullin

Minor Tides brings together three young photographers — Lina Geoushy, Sarah Jade Sullivan and Farren van Wyk — who centre portraiture in work that interrogates family histories and cultural heritage.

Through staged and documentary photographic portraits, the artists examine collective identity, colonial legacies and processes of reclamation: Geoushy revisits pioneering women in Egypt’s past; Sullivan documents youth in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines navigating economic and colonial afterlives; van Wyk stages family portraits that rework violent colonial iconographies and affirm mixed identities. The exhibition traces subtle currents of change beneath visible histories.

An extensive survey assembled from a long-standing research collection devoted to glass, this exhibition takes a contemporary look at a millennia-old material. Over two hundred glass and mixed-media works, including sculptural objects, design pieces and installations, testify to a transdisciplinary experimental spirit. Featuring artists such as Ettore Sottsass, Pierre Charpin, Betty Woodman, Bob Wilson, Giuseppe Penone, Jana Sterbak and James Lee Byars, the show examines materiality, technique and the porous boundaries between craft, design and contemporary art.

Live Language Model brings together a collective exhibition that unfolds across successive sequences, presenting works and critical reflections on attention at the intersection of language and presence. The programme features performance-based pieces by the duo Calling the Operator (Axelle Stiefel and Octave Magescas) alongside new editions and sculptural installations by Thomas Hirschhorn and Olivier Mosset. Through typographic interventions, printed matter, performance and austere minimal forms, the project interrogates how language conditions perception and the social life of objects.

Photographer Jörg Brockmann and ceramist Youlichka Fioramonti present a joint exhibition that transposes the human body onto porcelain through cyanotype processes. Brockmann’s images are photographed and printed onto film, then transferred onto light-sensitive porcelain plates before firing. Fioramonti’s ceramic practice engages this material translation, emphasizing the interplay of light, chemistry and fire. The works probe material transformation, the role of chance within analogue techniques and a dialogue between photographic form and crafted surface.

Stéphane Ducret presents Being Matters, an immersive series of recent paintings that map psyche and the living realm. The presentation gathers seven large to very large oil paintings on linen alongside a series of small-format works on wood. Through layered surfaces, deliberate errors and a dense pictorial process, Ducret explores invisible mechanisms of thought, memory and introspection. The works function as atmospheric studies of materiality and painterly gesture, charting states of mind and organic presence.

Their Crops, Our Roots – Portraits of Women in Geneva’s Countryside

Photographer Bertrand Carlier presents a series of large-format portraits that foreground women working across Geneva’s agricultural landscape. The photographs depict market gardeners, winegrowers, fruit growers, livestock farmers and cellar managers in their working environments, using natural light and documentary framing.
The project explores gender, labour and continuity, revealing how women’s labour shapes rural economies and biocultural traditions. Set against the UN’s International Year of the Woman Farmer 2026, the work invites renewed attention to the diversity of skills and trajectories within contemporary Geneva agriculture.
