Founded in 2012, Galerie Sébastien Bertrand is a contemporary art gallery situated in Eaux-Vives that primarily represents young and emerging international artists. The gallery focuses on new figurative practices, hosting an average of four solo exhibitions annually, alongside one curated show. Many artists have had their first solo or European solo exhibition here, with the gallery serving as both an incubator and a springboard for their careers.
Sébastien Bertrand presents a selection of paintings and works on paper by Rammellzee, highlighting the artist’s radical exploration of language, architecture and symbolic warfare. The presentation emphasises the material and pictorial force of dense compositions made with spray paint, ink, acrylic, metallic pigments, collage, markers and industrial materials. Together the works reveal a complex visual language that interrogates text, form and urban histories, situating Rammellzee’s practice within late twentieth-century experimental art.
