Biennale de l’Image en Mouvement 2026

Biennale de l’Image en Mouvement presents newly commissioned moving-image works by a selected international group of artists. The programme foregrounds experimental film, video and time-based installation, exploring contemporary approaches to narrative, spectatorship and archival practice. Public programmes and a co-edited publication accompany the commissions, situating projects within transregional dialogues and critical histories. Following an initial presentation in Tunis, the biennale will tour to Geneva and other European cities.

Artists of the Geneva School

Collection du Crest

An expanded presentation of works from the Geneva School and the Lake Geneva region brings together paintings and drawings by Ferdinand Hodler, François Bocion, John Torcapel, Alexandre Perrier, Félix Vallotton, Alexandre Cingria and Jean Roll. The display traces regional artistic dialogues across centuries, from academic realism to symbolist and modernist approaches, highlighting technique, compositional daring and materiality. The collection has grown through acquisitions and generous donations, and includes a very rare painting executed in Geneva before 1650, now shown to the public.

Jardin botanique

An itinerant exhibition conceived by researchers from the Haute école de travail social et de la santé Lausanne (HETSL | HES-SO) in collaboration with artist Virginie Rebetez. The project brings together six audio narratives presented as podcasts and twelve photographs to explore questions of end of life, memory, funeral rites, transmission, mourning and remembrance. Through intimate soundscapes and photographic tableaux, the work prompts reflection on our relationship to the living, biodiversity, funerary landscapes and the disappearance of non-human life.

Galerie Rosa Turetsky

Puissance 5 brings together five women artists from different generations in a dialogue between matter and spirit. Their intersecting trajectories produce works where gravity, metal, graphite and cosmic imagery become recurring motifs. The exhibition presents pieces in metal, pencil and mixed media that interweave tactile presence and poetic restraint, exploring materiality, perception and the enduring force of feminine creation across time and space.

Their Crops, Our Roots – Portraits of Women in Geneva’s Countryside

Photographer Bertrand Carlier presents a series of large-format portraits that foreground women working across Geneva’s agricultural landscape. The photographs depict market gardeners, winegrowers, fruit growers, livestock farmers and cellar managers in their working environments, using natural light and documentary framing.
The project explores gender, labour and continuity, revealing how women’s labour shapes rural economies and biocultural traditions. Set against the UN’s International Year of the Woman Farmer 2026, the work invites renewed attention to the diversity of skills and trajectories within contemporary Geneva agriculture.

La Fonte

La Fonte is a cultural space located in the Halles de la Fonderie in Carouge. These former workshops, made available by the City of Carouge, host a variety of community and cultural activities each year, including a refreshment area, concerts, artist residencies, workshops, and exhibition and lecture series. The eponymous collective is responsible for programming and organizing these events.
