The Byron Quartet and Matteo Mela present “Souvenir d’Espagne,” a concert showcasing works inspired by Spanish music. The ensemble consists of Ernestine Mermet on flute and vocals, Flavie Ndam on alto saxophone, Joris Arlaud on drums, Louise Knobil on double bass, and Yves-Yann Lavaly on piano.

13 – 15 November

Pop energy, raw intensity, a touch of animality, and playful shifts in force. With live music and dancers moving around the audience, the beat spreads—visceral and physical. La Tendresse du ventre de la baleine explores the tension between individuality and collectivity, between identity, intimate desires, and the need to belong.

The winners of the Viola Competition perform in concert, offering the audience an extended experience. In collaboration with the Institut National Genevois, the Concours de Genève annually hosts a concert that brings together the young winners for a convivial moment following the Viola Final.

The show “7-8 Jean-François,” crafted by Alexandra Tiedemann and Céline Goormaghtigh, tells the story of a middle-aged man, disillusioned with life. Following his doctor’s advice to make a change, he enrolls in a disco dance class. There, a chance reunion with his old schoolmate Michaël stirs up past rivalries and awakens an unexpected competitive edge. Jean-François now dreams of redemption by winning the prestigious local dance event, the Night Cup.

Actor Samuel Labarthe turns Nicolas Bouvier’s fever-drenched memoir The Scorpion-Fish into a hypnotic, miniaturist tour de force: marooned in 1950s Ceylon after a headlong road trip from Geneva through the Balkans and Afghanistan, the once-ebullient traveller spirals into tropical delirium, trading human company for buzzing insects, mirage-bright visions and mordant humour that flits between the sublime and the grotesque. Under Catherine Schaub’s finely gauged direction, Labarthe channels both the lush lyricism and the slow-burn torment of this “motionless voyage,” distilling Bouvier’s languid prose into a tactile, rejuvenating elixir that lets the audience feel every bead of sweat, jolt of wonder and sting of isolation.
