Stranger Strings is a playful, pedagogical concert for children performed by a clever string quartet from GECA. The program travels across time, juxtaposing repertoire from Mozart to contemporary composer Julia Wolfe, and mixes varied pieces with inventive staging. The musicians engage the audience through challenges and collaborative tasks, turning listening into an active, exploratory experience that encourages curiosity, musical discovery and collective participation.
Conceived as a dialogue between historical research and live performance, this second edition of Les Encyclopédiennes explores bel canto and the first currents of Italian Romanticism. Musicians from L’Encyclopédie shape a refined programme that moves from lecture and vocal reflection to concert performance, with Bénédicte Tauran in the workshop and young talents from the HEM in the Ex-Libris concert. This season invites audiences to five encounters celebrating diversity, exchange and creation, from Cuban rhythms to European baroque, from contemporary harp to jazz-tinged percussion and the sonic energies of Vertixe Sonora Ensemble. Featuring guitar teachers and students from the Conservatoire populaire and dancers from the pre‑professional contemporary class of Emilio Artessero Quesada, this program stages a dialogue between dance and guitar rooted in Cuban repertoire. Works by Leo Brouwer — including the complete 20 Études simples and Paisajes cubanos — weave minimalism, serial techniques and Cuban folklore into a dense rhythmic tapestry. The performance balances precise instrumental textures and kinetic, communal choreography, offering vivid sonic colours and pulsing movement.
