Claire Simon’s Récréations observes children at play in a schoolyard with a patient, documentary eye. Filmed in the early 1990s, the film stages a pared-back setting — a bench, a fence and trees — where games become temporary laws and each small story crystallises a social apprenticeship. Shot at child‑level, it practices what Simon calls a topography affective, privileging intimate detail, improvisation and the shifting authority of narrators to reveal the fragile politics of childhood.
Carte blanche to director Jean Liermier, who will present the screening!
