An evening of short ethnographic films by Margaret Mead and Gregory Bateson (Trance and Dance in Bali, 1936), Jean Rouch (Les Maître fous, 1955) and Gianfranco Mingozzi (La Taranta, 1962). These documentary works probe trance and possession across Balinese, Nigerien and Salentine rituals, weaving field observation with cinematic poetics. The program balances narrative force and ritual strangeness, foregrounding texture, rhythm and intimate detail while gesturing to colonial entanglements. A discussion with historian Michel Porret follows to reflect on representation and memory.

A special, inclusive event spotlighting the voices of Belleville, preceded by a screening of Belleville Beats (Belleville nous verra toujours danser). The discussion extends beyond the film through a live listening session of the podcast Le Point Son, in which young blind students interview one of the film’s protagonists, opening a dialogue on belonging, creativity and integration for today’s youth. Designed with accessibility at its core, the screening includes audio description and reflects on how collective spaces become places of resistance and imagination.
The screening and podcast are in French (subtitled in French); audio description available via the Greta app.

Françoise Boillat embodies Antigone in a minimalist staging that places the ancient tragedy among seven remarkable trees. The production distils Sophocles’ themes of duty, law and nature into intimate, ritual moments: a burial becomes a courageous act that pits personal conscience against political authority. Sparse movement, nuanced soundscapes and focused lighting amplify the tactile textures of skin, earth and breath, creating a solemn, sensory experience that lets the myth resonate with contemporary questions of justice and inheritance.
