Formed in Lausanne in 2020 during the pandemic, Morning Tape is a five-piece collective of seasoned, passionate musicians. Elina Duni and Rob Luft began collaborating in 2017 and have since distilled their musical conversation into a pared-down duo project that returns to the intimacy of their first encounter. Joined by Matthieu Michel’s luminous flugelhorn, they weave a nocturnal tapestry of songs evoking moonlight, mystery and quiet joy. The music is contemplative and tender, often meditative, embracing the listener with delicate phrasing and subtle dynamics.
Led by the folk ensemble Ensemble Lafken with singers Pancho González, Christian Goza and José‑Luis Musetti and featuring Peruvian musician Orlando Rodríguez, this program frames popular and folk songs as pages of identity. Conceptual artist John M Armleder brings together composer-performers Stephan Eicher and Christian Marclay in the context of his ‘Observatoires’ project. For the first time, these three figures convene in a performance that merges visual installation and live sound. Armleder’s treatment of the space — its silvered surfaces and an emphasis on emptiness — frames fragile melodies, found noises and sustained textures. The result is an immersive sonic-visual dialogue where metallic light, silence and spontaneous interaction reshape listening.
Chelan blends neo‑soul with pop, hip‑hop and jazz to create genre‑defying music that favours rich textures and rhythmic depth. Since the debut project Uncentered (2018) and through the latest album Run to the Sun (2024), Chelan explores intimate songwriting, warm vocals and inventive arrangements. The performance promises an immersive, soulful atmosphere where subtle grooves and cinematic harmonies meet contemporary production, inviting attentive listening and emotional resonance.
Trio Joubran, formed by brothers Samir, Wissam and Adnan Joubran, presents Twenty Springs: a two-decade survey of their oeuvre for oud. Joined by a string quartet (Valentin Mussou, cello; Anne Gouverneur and Sylvain Favre, violins; Anne Berry, viola) and percussionists Habib Meftah and Ersoj Kazimov, the ensemble expands the trio’s intimate sound into a rich, resonant tapestry. Arrangements alternate fragile solo interludes and sweeping, rhythmic passages, where luminous strings and precise percussion amplify the oud’s plaintive melodies, creating a meditative, emotionally charged journey.
Fiona is a sharp-tongued stand-up exploring dark themes with sly precision. Fluent in six languages and fluent in sarcasm, she weaves black humour that ranges from yoga to assisted suicide, balancing Swiss deadpan with an ego honed on Parisian stages. Her debut solo hour mixes scripted riffs and on-the-spot improvisation with the audience, delivering bite and lightness in equal measure. The result is a compact, daring comedy set that probes taboos while keeping a playful, theatrical edge.
