Using humour and precise stagecraft, Aouizerate interrogates reactionary online imaginaries and the contemporary allure of tradwives, exposing tensions between domestic idealisation and feminist inheritance. Swiss mezzo-soprano Marina Viotti and American pianist Todd Camburn form a close musical partnership, presenting a programme that juxtaposes Wagner’s Wesendonck Lieder with Chausson’s Poème de l’amour et de la mer. The recital also includes Duparc’s intimate mélodies, Poulenc’s nuanced songs and a brief solo piano Improvisation, plus chansons by Jacques Brel and Léo Ferré in an arrangement by Guy‑François Leuenberger commissioned for the occasion. Gregory Rauber provides a contextual introduction. The evening unfolds with oceanic textures, luminous phrasing and intense lyric intimacy.

Thomas’s soaring timbre and theatrical phrasing reinterpret film themes and Broadway melodies alongside original songs, while Breckon’s sensitive accompaniment ranges from delicate pianissimos to rich, organ-tinged textures. The programme favors emotional clarity and lyrical storytelling; sparse lighting and nuanced pacing heighten moments of hush and catharsis, drawing listeners into a vividly cinematic soundworld.

Primeurs Musicales is a dynamic classical music festival dedicated to discovering and supporting the next generation of musical talent. Scène Vagabonde’s seventh edition brings a compact program of contemporary theatre and music, presenting three contrasting stage works — “Par le bout du nez”, “Quadrille” and “Prima facie” — alongside a concert by Orchestre Tout Puissant Marcel Duchamp as part of La Bâtie-Festival de Genève. Across intimate stagings the festival favors inventive direction, close ensemble interplay and a balance of wit and intensity, offering encounters that privilege physical presence, tonal variety and rigorous dramaturgy.
