Ernest Pignon-Ernest, born in 1942 in Nice, is considered one of the pioneers of street art. Through life-sized charcoal drawings pasted directly onto city walls, he creates powerful encounters between his human figures and the urban spaces they inhabit. Deeply engaged with social and political issues, his work reflects historical and contemporary struggles while maintaining a strong poetic and human presence.

Swiss artist Jean-Philippe Kalonji presents a sensitive series of portrait drawings that probe identity, memory and human presence. The International Museum of the Red Cross and Red Crescent presents the first European solo exhibition of Guatemalan Maya Kaqchikel artist Angélica Serech (*1982). Pach’un Q’ijul (Temps entrelacés – Deep Time) intertwines ancestral weaving gestures with personal and collective memory, drawing on Serech’s history shaped by Guatemala’s civil war. Using self-built looms and natural materials like corn husks and branches, her works explore resilience, repair, and the deep ties between textile traditions and humanitarian action.
The exhibition delves into the realism, drama, and emotional intensity of 17th-century Dutch artists influenced by Caravaggio. The works of Gerrit van Honthorst and Judith Leyster exemplify the bold use of light and shadow to capture everyday life with theatrical intensity. Their contributions left a significant impact on the art of the era, paving the way for new expressions of the human condition.

Swiss artist Grégory Sugnaux presents a body of paintings that stage ambiguous, often hybrid figures—part human, part animal, serial androids and distorted, sometimes monstrous bodies. Combining grotesque allusion with ironic self-reflection, he mixes genres and pictorial techniques to render surfaces alternately smooth and vibrating, fracturing legibility.

German artist Gerhard Hotter (born 1954) presents a survey of works that unfolds across five decades, exploring play as a mode of learning and experimentation. Early paintings from the 1980s evoke inner labyrinths populated by chess pieces, playing cards and miniature toys; later works evolve into modular constructions inspired by Bauhaus toys, privileging pure form, volume, colour and combinable structures. Hotter employs Langford sequences as compositional tools, situating his practice within concrete art where order becomes an active, playful principle. Recent pieces expand this enquiry through relief, light and spatial interventions.

Clara Roumégoux examines production relations and the pressure to be productive through a concise series of works. Addressing food, design and sleep, she subverts everyday objects so they become signifiers of our era. Through moving image, print, installation and playful references to painting, her practice blurs domesticity and industry, care and efficiency. The exhibition questions habitual assumptions and evokes the subtle social forces that shape everyday routines and bodily rhythms.
