Scène Vagabonde Festival 2026

Scène Vagabonde’s seventh edition brings a compact program of contemporary theatre and music, presenting three contrasting stage works — “Par le bout du nez”, “Quadrille” and “Prima facie” — alongside a concert by Orchestre Tout Puissant Marcel Duchamp as part of La Bâtie-Festival de Genève. Across intimate stagings the festival favors inventive direction, close ensemble interplay and a balance of wit and intensity, offering encounters that privilege physical presence, tonal variety and rigorous dramaturgy.

Les 10 petites anarchistes

Directed by Fanny Brunet and Carole Schafroth, this theatrical adaptation of Daniel de Roulet’s novel follows ten young women who emigrate to Patagonia to found an egalitarian anarchist community. Using object theatre, the production blends storytelling, projected images and reflective passages to probe anarchist utopias, working-class conditions, migration and the marginalised role of women in history. The staging is intimate and inventive, inviting thought and emotion through tactile imagery and poetic gesture.

Directed and performed by Eve Aouizerate, Amours subversives stages a wry, intimate interrogation of gender and desire. With performers Mathilde Lyon and Dylan Poletti, the piece pivots on a provocative premise — a young woman’s decision to abandon a nascent career for the tradwife ideal — and unfolds as a personal theatrical essay on power, intimacy and the contradictions of femininity in 2026. Olivier Debelhoir makes his first in-theatre creation with La vie de ma mère, a circus-theatre piece led by Compagnie d’un Ours. As performer and director, Debelhoir and his collaborators probe language, vertigo and the mechanics of wonder, combining intimate clowning, accordion music and surreal apparitions. Staged encounters — including a knight figure and a momentary levitation forty-seven centimetres above the ground — build a tense, poetic atmosphere that oscillates between humour and uncanny lyricism.

An introspective monologue for multiple voices, La Table d’Amour is a poetic theatrical immersion inspired by a Tinos island tradition. It probes questions of living together, reconciliation and the role of conviviality as an artistic gesture, creating an intimate, sensory staging that favors lyricism and shared presence.

Directed by Françoise Courvoisier, this production of Anton Chekhov’s Oncle Vania — translated by Arthur Adamov — assembles a committed ensemble (Vincent Bonillo, Pierre Dubey, Bérangère Mastrangelo, Patricia Mollet-Mercier, Clarisse Morizot, Pierre Omer, Juliana Samarine, Edmond Vuilloud) to explore love, the passage of time and illusions lost. The staging, created with scenographer Gilbert Maire and painter André Kasper, uses Rinaldo Del Boca’s lighting, Pierre Omer’s music and Nicolas Le Roy’s sound to evoke both the comedy and the terrifying humanity of Chekhov.
