The International Museum of the Red Cross and Red Crescent presents the first European solo exhibition of Guatemalan Maya Kaqchikel artist Angélica Serech (*1982). Pach’un Q’ijul (Temps entrelacés – Deep Time) intertwines ancestral weaving gestures with personal and collective memory, drawing on Serech’s history shaped by Guatemala’s civil war. Using self-built looms and natural materials like corn husks and branches, her works explore resilience, repair, and the deep ties between textile traditions and humanitarian action.
The MAH showcases Tonutopie, an innovative installation by German artist Hans-Walter Müller, a trailblazer in inflatable structures. This large, transparent, and habitable sphere, nestled within Vincent Lamouroux’s La Passerelle, offers a unique sensory experience. It delves into the contrasts between the fluidity of inflatable structures and the rigidity of traditional architecture, providing visitors with a fresh perspective on space.
The exhibition invites you on a journey through anatomical models, casts, waxworks, and illustrated antique books. Modern tools like microscopy, medical imaging, and 3D printing uncover the inner workings of organs, currently utilized by medical students at the University of Geneva. This is a collaboration with the University of Geneva. Some images may not be suitable for younger or sensitive audiences.
The MEG, Musée d’ethnographie de Genève, showcases the immersive exhibition Afrosonica – Paysages sonores, which delves into the significance of music and sound in African societies and their diasporas. Featuring instruments, sound archives, and contemporary installations, the exhibition highlights the ability of sound to communicate, connect, convey knowledge and emotions, and evoke memories.
António Vasconcelos Lapa invites you into a fantastical realm where dreams blend with reality, a world brimming with lush vegetation, vibrant fruits, and peculiar creatures reminiscent of fairy tales. His works uniquely allow for touch, providing an immersive and unparalleled experience.
