Après Moi, le Déluge

New choreographic creation by (LA)HORDE for the Ballet national de Marseille, Après Moi, le Déluge plunges into a critical moment of upheaval, oscillating between apprehension and the hope of a possible future. Twelve performers move within a monumental, evolving scenography while Pierre Aviat’s original score and the external perspective of Alain Damasio shape a tense, poetic atmosphere. The piece explores collective fragility, resilience and the choreography of transition.

Alain Della Maestra returns to the stage with his trio — trumpet (Alain Della Maestra), piano (Enrico Perelli) and drums (Luigi Lamarca) — for an evening of mellow jazz, bossa nova and Brazilian‑infused improvisation. Drawing on over fifty years of performing and a decade based in North America, he blends intimate swing, acoustic elegance and Latin colours. Expect warm, nuanced phrasing, close interplay and moments of spontaneous dialogue as the trio navigates standards, bossa‑novas and original improvisations with a lyrical touch.

Choreographed by Soraya Leila Emery, Coming Soon reimagines Ingres’s La Grande Odalisque through a playful, subversive lens. A single performer shifts between tableaux—seductive, mischievous, defiant—using grotesque exaggeration and theatrical excess to unsettle the orientalist gaze. Sparse objects, bold gestures and a keen sense of timing create alternating moments of intimacy and farce, opening space for new narratives of desire and agency. Created in collaboration with Emergentia and local partners, the work feels simultaneously imminent and elusive.

Text by Erri De Luca. Directed by Barbara Baker and F‑X Fernandez‑Cavada, Impossible unfolds after a man falls from a steep trail in the Dolomites. Blending investigation, memory and love letters, the staging probes guilt, betrayal and political history as two former members of the same terrorist group confront a shared past. The production balances documentary clarity and poetic fragments, offering a tense, intimate reflection on vengeance and the echoes of the 20th century into the present.

Adapted freely from Maryse Condé and Emily Brontë, this theatrical adaptation follows Razyé and Cathy across three generations in a post-emancipation Guadeloupe. Directed by Anne Monfort, the production probes themes of racism, passion, pride, social violence, vengeance and fatalism through a visceral, rhythmic staging. The ensemble uses sparse, evocative design and intense physical interplay to reveal how inherited trauma shapes desire and retribution.

This trio brings together three leading improvisers from Chicago whose music resonates far beyond the United States. Through attentive listening and deep rapport they create spontaneous, evolving soundscapes where every gesture reshapes the moment. Their approach blends intense interplay, extended textures and rhythmic surprise, moving between delicate silence and powerful eruptions. The performance presents material from their debut album Dial Up on Aerophonic Records, offering an immersive, unpredictable exploration of contemporary improvisation.

6 – 13 November

Presented in partnership with the Institut National Genevois, this closing concert brings together prizewinners of the Geneva Competition: violist Brian Isaacs and the Quatuor Elmire. The programme centres on Beethoven’s Quintet alongside two contrasting works, offering intimate chamber music textures. The performers favour clarity of line and heated interplay, shaping a narrative of tenderness and tension. Lighting and staging are understated, focusing attention on timbral richness and communicative ensemble playing to create a luminous, emotionally precise evening.
