Led by Jean-Quentin Haefliger, co-director of the Musée international de la Réforme, this visit explores the religious roots of Ferdinand Hodler’s art. Around twenty-five paintings trace the Genevan artist’s engagement with biblical scenes, the history of the Reformation, prayer and church interiors. The presentation also considers how Hodler transformed the idea of creation into a vision of nature as a higher unity, expressed in symbolic compositions such as Regard dans l’infini and in his contemplative “planetary” landscapes.
