Early 19th-century England. Twelve-year-old Mary Anning spends her days searching for fossils on the cliffs of Lyme Regis. Curious, determined, and passionate, she pursues her research despite the conventions of her time, making a discovery that will help transform our understanding of the living world. Inspired by the true story of this pioneering palaeontologist, Marcel Barelli’s first feature film celebrates scientific curiosity, perseverance and empowerment. His delicate 2D animation is accompanied by a folk- and rock-inspired original score composed by Shyle Zalewski.

Ciel Sourdeau’s eight-minute, seventeen-second video unfolds as a subversive tutorial: part gore, part experimental film, it repurposes pedagogical forms into an improvised, transgressive bricolage. Mixed by Adrien Kessler, the piece layers tactile sound and rough-edged visuals to probe bodies, identity and the limits of instruction. Its stripped, confrontational aesthetic alternates shock and dark humour, inviting a re-examination of learning rituals and the politics of representation through intimate, unsettling imagery.

7 September – 6 October

An intimate retrospective devoted to director Patricia Plattner, presenting a selection of her films alongside a reading-performance and a small exhibition. Plattner’s cinema favors close human encounters and observational compositions, blending subtle humour with poignant emotional truth. The programme highlights her attentive direction and narrative economy, tracing recurring themes of identity, everyday intimacy and the passage of time. Screenings offer a chance to rediscover the quiet intensity and warm, lyrical realism of her work. An event presented by the association Le Bazar de la Sirène in collaboration with Luna Films and the City of Carouge.

Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor’s Naza is a nocturnal, investigative film shot on the rooftops of Tel‑Aviv that exposes the mechanisms behind Israeli operations responsible for mass civilian deaths in Gaza. Combining intimate night photography with forensic narration, the documentary traces how technologies and tactics reshape the battlefield and civilian vulnerability. Presented at the Venice Film Festival 2026 (Special Jury Prize), the screening is followed by a discussion with Jean‑Mark Rickli about the use of artificial intelligence in targeting civilian populations.

Film language: Hebrew, English with French subtitles.
Special screening of Naza on Saturday, October 3 at 8:45 PM, in partnership with the International Film Festival and Forum on Human Rights (FIFDH). Attended by Jean-Mark Rickli, Head of Global and Emerging Risks at the Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP). Screening followed by a discussion on the use of artificial intelligence in targeting civilian populations in Gaza.

Andreï Zviaguintsev’s Minotaure is a brooding drama about a prosperous businessman, Gleb, whose carefully constructed life unravels amid mounting professional and social instability. Shot with austere compositions and long, contemplative takes, the film probes power, fragility and the collapse of domestic order. Tense and visually rigorous, it balances psychological dread with precise human observation. Winner of the Grand Prix at Cannes, Minotaure unfolds as a slow-burning meditation on violence, social decay and the limits of control.
