Festival Antigel – KNEECAP

Booking Required

Formed in Belfast, Kneecap — Mo Chara, Móglaí Bap and DJ Próvaí — wield Irish Gaelic as a fiercely political instrument. Mixing Irish‑language rap, heavy bass, hip‑hop and rave energy, their FENIAN Tour channels songs from Fine Art and the film inspired by their story. The trio confronts identity, youth alienation and resistance with raw lyricism and pounding rhythms, producing a confrontational, euphoric live experience where urgency and communal release collide.

Two short plays by Anton Chekhov staged by Tibor Ockenfels and Flavie Tapparel, presented as compact dramatic machines where romantic comedy masks escalating confrontations between desire, affection and material interest. Performances rely on precise physical timing, terse exchanges and a lean, playful design to reveal the simmering violence behind courtship rituals. The three actors — Estelle Bridet, Matteo Prandi and Raphaël Vachoux — inhabit heightened character types that shift between farce and darker comic truth, creating a sharply observed, kinetic evening.

Presented by ClassiCosy, this concert brings together the Trio Messiaen — Vassily Chmykov (violin), Volodia van Keulen (cello) and Philippe Hattat (piano) — in a programme linking Europe and the United States. Works by Thierry Escaich, Maurice Ravel and an orchestral suite after Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess (arranged by the trio) reveal cross-currents between art music and popular styles. Rhythms ranging from Basque motifs to jazz and Afro‑Cuban pulses shape an intimate, colour-rich sonic journey.

Conductor Stanislava Nankova leads the Liederkranz-Concordia Choir with an ad hoc symphony orchestra, featuring soloists Fanny Utiger (soprano), Oscar Esmerode (tenor) and Sacha Michon (baritone). The programme juxtaposes operatic arias by Puccini, Boito and Mascagni with sacred and Classical choral pages by Mozart, tracing a path between darkness and light. The music alternates visceral verismo intensity and luminous choral spirituality, creating a dramatic, emotionally charged sound world that pivots between suffering and hope.
