Elena Cogato Lanza, full professor at the Laboratory of Urbanism, École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), draws on architectural and urban research to examine the urgent questions raised by energy, environmental, health and social transition. She investigates how dispersed, low-density urbanization remains dependent on cars and uses the Lake Geneva metropolitan area to show how architecture and planning can redefine the boundaries of the conceivable and sketch plausible futures.
