Bridging Possibilities Workshop

This is Speed Dating for the Planet, a structured, fast-paced format where participants will connect with other mission-aligned organizations to support young innovators. The Earth Foundation will convene 30 leaders from foundations, NGOs, companies, and youth-led initiatives for a high-impact collaboration session designed to spark real partnerships across Geneva’s sustainability ecosystem. ​This is not traditional networking. Tuesday 1 September, 18:00

Daniel de Roulet, Swiss author, presents his latest novel and reflects on contemporary Swiss society. The conversation is moderated by Isabelle Falconnier, journalist and literary critic.

The book follows three Helvetic characters who, born at the end of the Second World War, challenge political compromise, financial power and bourgeois norms. De Roulet examines underground movements from Davos to modern occupations, exploring identity, dissent and the social forces that shape radical trajectories.

Wednesday 2 September, 14:00

Artist Matthieu Grillet leads the project, combining artistic practice with hands-on botanical observation to document urban plant life in Surville.

Participants collect leaves, flowers and herbs to assemble a collective herbarium that records the neighborhood’s flora and reflects nature’s presence amid urban change. The session explores plant identification, preservation techniques, and how collective archives contribute to ecological awareness and community memory.

This workshop explores the traditional process of assembling a herbarium specimen, inspired by Jean-Jacques Rousseau’s collections. Participants learn scientific techniques for pressing and mounting dried plants on old paper, practice botanical labelling and nomenclature, and select specimens to create a personal herbarium sheet. The session examines preservation methods, identification principles and the historical context of Rousseau’s approach, combining practical skills with scientific insight to produce a lasting botanical object.

Philippe Macasdar, a leading figure of Geneva’s theatre scene, presents a creation shaped by a lifetime of curiosity and passion. Through storytelling, archival material, playful digressions and inhabited texts, he offers a vivid, sensitive traversal of Geneva, exploring its intellectual memory, its paradoxes and its discreet yet vast influence. The presentation investigates how personal narratives and cultural archives can reveal the city’s identity and resonance.
