By the Tita8lou Company and performed by Jessica Arpin, Kalabazi tells the story of a young woman who uses an hour before leaving to find a husband through a theatrical love contest. Two audience volunteers face playful trials, punctuated by bicycle acrobatics and the heroine’s peculiar backwards speech. The piece blends circus, clowning and poetry, inviting intimacy and laughter while shifting through dialects and languages. Its itinerant life—over 800 performances across 28 countries—underscores an improvisatory, communal spirit.
