Créatures — Alexandre Baumgartner

Alexandre Baumgartner presents a body of paintings, sculptures and drawings that straddle contemporary practice and art brut. His work evokes hybrid, often ambiguous creatures, balancing an apparent innocence with acute perceptual intensity.
Using gestural drawing, tactile paint surfaces and sculptural forms, the pieces probe the boundary between presence and disappearance. The exhibition questions how simple contours and raw mark-making reactivate buried affects, revealing fragile emotional registers and the paradox of clarity within naiveté.

Diego Cibelli presents an exhibition that considers notions of futurity and personal trajectory. Through a practice that blends installation, photographic fragments and sculptural assemblage, Cibelli interrogates memory, migration and the acts of anticipating life to come. The works deploy found materials, layered imagery and subtle spatial interventions to create a provisional narrative space where biography, material traces and collective histories converge.

Opening : Thursday 21 May, 18:00 – Talk by Elise Roche at 19:00.

22 May – 27 June

Carolina Fontana presents Parallaxe, a first solo exhibition in Geneva featuring paintings from her recent Z·E·N series. Produced through contemplative travels across Swiss cantons, Spain and China, the canvases blend figurative motifs with abstract formations to evoke a transcendent, Zen-informed sensibility toward landscape and the sublime. The works emphasise delicate brushwork, layered surfaces and meditative composition, inviting sustained attention to process, rhythm and the poetic interplay between presence and absence.

6 – 29 May

Eliane Gygi presents a body of work where matter becomes light: painter, ceramicist and glass artist, she has developed since the 1980s compositions around glass and mirrors that evoke contemporary frescoes and mosaic-like textures. Her paintings and glass works balance presence and absence, with bold, luminous color fragments that capture and diffuse light beside bare mirrored surfaces that invite reflection. Alongside these, Gygi’s imagined architectural paintings depict clusters of asymmetrical houses in vivid landscapes. Maria Spada offers architectural jewellery—her Brutal Swiss series reimagines Swiss architecture, from Geneva fortifications to works by Zumthor and Botta, translating structural motifs into wearable forms.

20 – 31 May

Svitlana Anoshkina and Sergo Verbicki present a dialogical exhibition reflecting on proximity, distance and divergent life trajectories. Anoshkina’s sensitive, luminous paintings, shaped by exile and movement between Kyiv and Warsaw, emphasize light, color and interior states.

Verbicki’s ceramic pieces are raw, material-driven explorations of tension, fracture and transformation, evoking anchoring and memory. Without unifying their languages, the works respond through contrast—fragility and density, color and matter—asking what sustains shared ways of inhabiting the world when separated.

24 April – 3 January

An extensive survey assembled from a long-standing research collection devoted to glass, this exhibition takes a contemporary look at a millennia-old material. Over two hundred glass and mixed-media works, including sculptural objects, design pieces and installations, testify to a transdisciplinary experimental spirit. Featuring artists such as Ettore Sottsass, Pierre Charpin, Betty Woodman, Bob Wilson, Giuseppe Penone, Jana Sterbak and James Lee Byars, the show examines materiality, technique and the porous boundaries between craft, design and contemporary art.

12 March – 20 June

May 1972 is an exhibition dedicated to Salvatore Emblema (Naples, 1929–2006), bringing together works produced between the late 1960s and the early 1980s. Across paintings, sculptures and installations, Emblema refines a conceptual language that interrogates materiality, form and temporality. The presentation highlights his experimental use of found materials, assemblage and reductive gestures, situating these works within postwar Italian avant‑garde practices and the artist’s evolving exploration of spatial and epistemic limits.
