Miscellanies

This anniversary exhibition gathers masterworks of Flemish painting from the Renaissance to the Golden Age. Focused on theme-driven presentations, the show foregrounds painting techniques, panel work and pictorial languages that shaped northern European visual culture. Works are considered through poetic, historical and philosophical perspectives, emphasizing intimate encounters, compositional virtuosity and material craft. The selection highlights chromatic subtlety, religious and secular subjects, and the enduring influence of Flemish collectors and connoisseurship.

Through patient observation and a careful pictorial process, seemingly banal images become spectral and gradually give rise to canvases that probe mystery and enigma. The works oscillate between recognition and suggestion, evoking obsession, memory and metaphysical wandering. The exhibition considers how painting unveils hidden presences in the quotidian and how slow, repetitive attention can transform fleeting perceptions into sustained visual inquiry.

Fertile Hybridations explores the many forms of encounters and interweavings between humans, non-humans, knowledge systems, and temporalities.
Visitors are invited to inhabit the space, to question, to connect with these artist-researchers and designers, and—like them—to attempt to engage in dialogue and move beyond anthropocentrism, the idea that humans are at the center of everything. Instead, the exhibition encourages recognizing forms of intelligence or agency in other species, and building new relationships and exchanges.
