At La Cité Bleue, Bach and the Bible is a powerful and intimate performance by director Omar Porras and pianist Cédric Pescia. The show weaves together sacred biblical texts and Bach’s keyboard music, exploring the deep spiritual dialogue between word and sound. Porras voices the Gospels, Psalms, and prophecies, while Pescia delivers a luminous, heartfelt interpretation of Bach’s meditations.

Neither a recital nor a theatrical reading, the performance invites audiences—believers or not—to rediscover the universal spiritual depth of Bach’s music rooted in the Bible, creating a moving journey of meaning, beauty, and silence.

6 – 15 March

Succès Reprise is a sparkling vaudeville that blurs the line between theatrical comedy and the comedy of everyday life. A charming love triangle performed by a tight trio of actors unfolds through rapid-fire exchanges, physical gags and shifting misunderstandings. The staging favours bright pace and playful timing, delivering light-hearted warmth while revealing awkward human impulses and social foibles. The piece leaves a lingering smile and a sense of affectionate irony.

Molière’s Tartuffe tells the story of a slick con-man who hides behind ostentatious piety to worm his way into the wealthy Orgon household. Orgon, dazzled by Tartuffe’s sanctimonious rhetoric, defends him even as the impostor’s hypocrisy poisons family bonds and pushes the household toward ruin.

Director Jean Liermier underscores how, in Molière’s work, the female characters serve as the moral compass and spark of resistance, a beacon of hope against oppression. Staged on a stark, minimalist set that exposes the family’s rigid tensions—and featuring Gilles Privat as an unbending Orgon—this production highlights the play’s continuing resonance in a world beset by egotism, fanaticism, and conspiracy thinking. The central question remains timeless: will society keep falling for Tartuffe’s brand of seductive deceit?

5 – 13 March

Festa Mediterranea gathers musicians, dancers and tradition-bearers from Southern Italy in a celebration of communal ritual and seasonal renewal. Rooted in popular cultures, the program threads fervor, humour and virtuosic technique through concerts, a communal bal and dance workshops. Textures of voice, percussion and folk stringed instruments conjure pastoral landscapes, proposing an ecology of sound where heritage is continuously reinvented. The experience is both exuberant and intimate, inviting shared movement and attentive listening.

Performed by Ensemble Sinfonietta Bern, this concert journeys into the enchanting universe of Hayao Miyazaki through orchestral arrangements of the most magical melodies from his films, alongside new works inspired by his vision. Lush cinematic textures, delicate solos and shimmering harmonies evoke nostalgia and wonder, while subtle dynamics and refined ensemble playing create intimate, immersive soundscapes that shift between lyricism and drama, transporting listeners into storybook landscapes.
