Learn and play chess in a lively, hands-on workshop for children and adults. Beginners will discover rules, pieces and basic tactics through games and exercises. Children are split into three groups by age and experience: 4–6-year-olds learn the rules; false beginners practise checkmates and tactical combinations; older kids build tactical awareness and strategic thinking. Adults receive practical coaching on openings and key themes, with guidance from Grandmaster Clovis Vernay. An exercise booklet is provided to every child.

The Biopark is temporarily hosting Janus, a unique two-headed Greek tortoise, during the renovation of the Museum. Each head of this male tortoise has its own independent brain, which sometimes makes its movements challenging. This lively reading sparks language, curiosity, and play while encouraging listening and pretend adventures.

Wednesday 4 March, 15:00

Alain Frey leads this workshop exploring sound design and attentive listening, guiding participants through a composed sound narrative assembled from many recordings.

Participants will use close listening and imagination to navigate the layered audio piece and develop personal interpretations. The session examines how field recordings and sound design create narrative meaning, and addresses techniques for focusing perception effectively away from everyday stimuli.

Wednesday 4 March, 15:30

Drift into a musical tale drawn from Rémi sans famille, told while the harp weaves soft melodies. Listen to plucked strings, follow the narrator’s voice, and imagine characters coming to life. The performance invites children to take part, choose some musical pieces, and learn how the harp makes sound. With clear storytelling and gentle music, kids discover rhythm, timbre, and the magic of a live harp.

4 & 24 March

Explore the lake’s underwater world with your family and a specialist who guides you through the lives of Léman’s fish. Listen to stories about shimmering scales, curious fins and the soft gurgle of water while you learn about their bodies, diets and roles in the lake’s food web. Touch charts, ask questions and share observations in a friendly space that opens curiosity and new discoveries about freshwater life.

Embark on a journey through two stunning houses in the Old Town, tracing the footsteps of imaginary creatures during this captivating tour.
