“Bal Impérial – Boléro” seamlessly blends an imperial waltz with Ravel’s mesmerizing Boléro. Created by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and Damien Jalet, this work delves into the social and political roots of dance. The first segment, “Bal Impérial,” marks the bicentennial of Johann Strauss by juxtaposing Viennese music with Japanese percussion, all set in an evocative stage design and costumes by Tim Yip. The Ensemble Temenos with Chouchane Siranossian presents a concert dedicated to Jean-Féry Rebel at the Lutheran Church of Geneva. This program delves into the instrumental music of Rebel, a violinist with the King’s 24 Violins and a composer for the Royal Academy of Music, who was both a student and legacy-bearer of Lully. Featured are the Trio Sonata “La Flore”, the solo violin sonatas from Opus 2, and the Sonata No. 7 in C minor “Tombeau de Monsieur de Lully”. The performance highlights the fusion of French dance and Italian influence, celebrating Rebel’s discreet virtuosity and characteristic stylistic harmony.

Renowned tenor Benjamin Bernheim, accompanied on piano by Carrie-Ann Mathseson, will perform in the prestigious series Les Grands Interprètes. The program features works by Bizet, Duparc, Chausson, Tchaikovsky, Puccini, Massenet, Kosma, Trenet, and Brel. Audiences can look forward to famous excerpts such as “Je crois entendre encore” from The Pearl Fishers, “La fleur que tu m’avais jetée” from Carmen, “Pourquoi me réveiller” from Werther, and “Les feuilles mortes.”
