To mark the Concours de Genève’s 80th edition, this opening concert brings together pianist Kevin Chen and cellist Michiaki Ueno, both former first-prize winners of the competition. Their programme moves between Baroque clarity, Romantic intensity and modern colour, with Bach, Mori, Scriabin, Liszt and Bridge creating a vivid musical arc. Solo and duo moments alternate, highlighting virtuosity, contrast and the expressive range of two exceptional artists.
Created and performed by Sandra Widmer Joly, this theatrical piece confronts finitude with a blend of poetry, tenderness and dark humour. Drawing on the author’s fifteen years as a funeral celebrant, the work weaves personal testimony, quiet rituals and moments of levity. Dramaturg Antoine Jaccoud provided textual guidance following a writing workshop, and members of the Célébrys network bring lived professional experience to the stage. The overall tone is intimate, reflective and surprisingly warm.

A theatrical, musical and visual voyage into the heart of the Mediterranean, Poésidonia brings together forty actors, singers and musicians in a vibrant chorus. Their stories speak of solidarity, exile, hope and resistance, carried by poetry, music and voices from across the world. Around the performance, concerts extend the encounter, while an exhibition of photographs and illustrations adds further visual perspectives.

Presented within the Emerentia festival, this evening gathers three original short dance pieces by Shereya, Joce and Uma. Inspired by literary short stories, the program uses compact narrative forms to probe storytelling through movement, confronting the codes and bodies of institutional contemporary dance. Each 30-minute piece shifts tone and atmosphere, alternating intimate gestures and bold choreographic risk to explore memory, desire and afterlives of the party.
