Nikolay Khozyainov — Piano Recital

Presented by pianist and composer Nikolay Khozyainov, this recital juxtaposes the volcanic virtuosity of Franz Liszt with the composer-performer’s own poetic works, including two world premieres. Khozyainov’s crystalline technique and intimate phrasing shape a program that moves from tempestuous sonority to reflective lyricism. The evening foregrounds the solo piano as an orchestral voice, combining daring technical feats with moments of tenderness, inviting a concentrated, emotionally charged listening experience.

Told as a solo performance, this piece follows a woman as she remembers the films that shaped her life and blurs the line between cinema and memory. Through references to science-fiction sagas and cinematic archetypes — the woman-soldier, the survivor, the reluctant mother — the show probes identity, fear of change and the ways stories migrate from screen to skin. Sparse staging and intimate narration create a haunting, introspective atmosphere.
