Lord Betterave

Comedian Lord Betterave delivers a frenetic and sharp solo show that skims 300,000 years of human folly with mischievous bad faith. Through rapid-fire riffs and vivid images he alternately admires the penguin heart, lampoons the tobacco industry and democratic whims, and rails against the smell of tequila and the quirks of Amsterdam. The performance mixes sincerity, absurdity and moments of pure physical comedy, including a memorable imitation of a cat coughing up a hairball.

Directed by Marie-José Malis, Retour au pays revisits Hugo von Hofmannsthal’s letters through a spare, lucid staging. Performers Alexandra Tiedemann and Juan Crespillo inhabit the returning merchant’s disorientation, while Aurélia Ansermet provides live music and sound. Bernard Héritier’s scenography and Jessy Ducatillon’s lighting shape moments of visual surprise, most poignantly a Van Gogh encounter that restores belief in the world. The piece refuses facile answers, offering theatrical lucidity and an austere emotional clarity.

Alain Della Maestra returns to the stage with his trio — trumpet (Alain Della Maestra), piano (Enrico Perelli) and drums (Luigi Lamarca) — for an evening of mellow jazz, bossa nova and Brazilian‑infused improvisation. Drawing on over fifty years of performing and a decade based in North America, he blends intimate swing, acoustic elegance and Latin colours. Expect warm, nuanced phrasing, close interplay and moments of spontaneous dialogue as the trio navigates standards, bossa‑novas and original improvisations with a lyrical touch.

Autothérapie is a solo dance work that unfolds as a choreographic form of introspection. Fragmented sessions weave geography of memory, trauma and cultural references to explore Haiti, personal history and intergenerational memory. The piece favors intimate, physical staging and concentrated dramaturgy, inviting viewers into an embodied investigation of identity, inherited narratives and resilience. Rawness and poetic movement alternate, producing a dense emotional atmosphere that lingers beyond the performance.

The programme balances lyrical introspection and fiery improvisation, foregrounding tone, space and groove in intimate ensemble interplay.

A theatrical, musical and visual voyage into the heart of the Mediterranean, Poésidonia brings together forty actors, singers and musicians in a vibrant chorus.
