Every first Saturday or Sunday in May, the Feuillu (Foliage Festival) marks the return of spring in Geneva.
This popular festival, known in many municipalities of the canton (Avusy, Bardonnex, Cartigny, Confignon, Onex, Perly, Plan-les-Ouates), likely originates from a pagan Celtic tradition — hence the presence of various related rituals throughout Europe.
It most often consists of processions of children wearing wreaths of leaves, who parade through their municipality, punctuating their route with songs and dances.
Onex: Flower parade
Bardonnex: Cortege in Landecy and Saconnex-d’Arve
Bernex: Festivities in Cressy
