Ianne Kenfack Kitio continues her inquiry into representations of Black femininity and the construction of identity. In this photographic work, produced as a cyanotype, she treats the image as a space of transformation rather than a fixed depiction. The piece links material and concept: its blue evokes Ndop indigo textiles of the Grassfields and the artist’s Bamiléké heritage, while the cyanotype’s gradual emergence mirrors identity as an ongoing process of thresholds and metamorphosis.

18 September – 8 November

Renowned for dissolving the boundaries between artist and audience, his work celebrated collaboration, transformation, and human connection through ever-changing, interactive creations. Blending political engagement with poetic imagination, Medalla explored themes of identity, migration, ecology, memory, and collective experience, leaving a lasting influence on contemporary art. This exhibition offers an opportunity to discover the work of one of the most visionary and experimental artists of the twentieth century, whose playful yet profound practice continues to inspire new generations of artists and audiences alike.

16 September – 15 October

Xinyi Hu transforms familiar domestic objects—mirrors and tables—into evolving ceramic forms that visitors are invited to activate. Between sculpture and utility, her modular pieces recalibrate everyday gestures: looking, gathering, leaning. The works demand bodily adaptation and invent new uses, making the moment of the artwork’s emergence depend on embodied engagement. Through tactility and careful material language, Hu examines presence, relationality and the thresholds where form becomes action.

17 September – 7 November

An exhibition presenting work by Garry Fabian Miller, Ptolemy Mann and Marit Tingleff, curated by Sarah Griffin. Across photography, weaving and ceramics, the show explores the darkroom, the dye lab and the kiln as sites of material transformation. The artists draw on deep embodied knowledge and long practice, using process, environment and material behaviour to shape outcomes. The works probe attention to texture, colour and time, revealing subtle relations between technique and the natural conditions that inform each practice.

There’s another Geneva beneath the Old Town. Descend under St Peter’s Cathedral to walk through more than 2,000 years of history, from pre-Christian remains to the city’s earliest churches. It’s one of those places you can walk past a hundred times without guessing what lies beneath.
